Last Wednesday I was at a mall and chanced upon something exciting during my break. It was a fan sign event for a Singaporean-Korean girl group called SKarf and this was the number of fans present.

Kinda sad since you would think a local group would receive more local support.

JOKING. Actually I was there a few hours early and there was actually a much longer queue formed outside the mall and managed by the mall's security guards. As they are fairly new they only had two songs and they were playing their songs in the mall continuously just before the event. I've never heard of their songs before but I must say they are both really good!

Their single 'Oh! Dance' is such an ear worm I found myself humming the song to myself over and over again. The song is pretty much formulaic K-Pop with a really catchy chorus that's very easy to sing along to, especially for international fans since the chorus is only made up of 'Oh's and 'dance' and a short instrumental breakdown which serves as a dance break.

The coupling song 'My Love' is also really sweet and I found it really smart how the group used English so effectively especially since they have two members that are fluent in English, a trait that Singaporeans are blessed with thanks to our bilingual education system.

Well they performed as well but it's a pity that I could not stay to watch them as I have to rush back to school for my orchestra practice. Nevertheless I am still really excited for them and I'd love to see them succeed and prove that Singaporeans can be different and expressive, and not just plain mechanical and studious. Singaporeans should continue to lend them more support and hopefully they'll find more love internationally as well!

In other news I made Banana Mayonnaise Sandwich today and I am perpetually in a state of hunger. >.<
