Today, I checked out a new a cafe at the Katong Area called Penny University! It is very nicely decorated and it had a quaint and homely feeling, with some old school gadgets around.

I had the Houjicha Karigane and a Strawberry and Lemon Tart.

The tea I had came with a cute little sift and I just had to press a button after 3 minutes to release all the tea into my cup such that the tea leaves won't get stuck around. Very cool gadget. The tea is a common daily drink in Japan made from pan-roasted stems and has a nutty flavour. It also has lower caffeine levels than usual so it is great for a relaxing evening. I paraphrased all this from the menu btw.

The tart was also really tasty! It's just the right mix of sweet and sour. Instead of a typical hard crust, it's crisp and flakier making it really interesting.

It was pretty cool and affordable so I'm definitely going to check that place out again.

Later in the evening I went to have Korean BBQ at Tanjong Pagar at a restaurant called 2 Days 1 Night Korean Restaurant with my friends. It's a buffet and the meat were all so tasty!

The place was nice, and played a good mix of Korean music and 80s ballads. Very much like the typical Korean dinner with all the soju advertisements around.

They had a great selection of meat in various cuts and seasoning!

The grill was really cool design with a filtration system such that the oil would leak out and the service staff were all really attentive and helped to change the aluminium foil the moment it got too dirty.

The kimchi was awesome! It was really packed with flavour and the cabbage used was very fresh. Reminded me of the times I had in Korea. I ate so much I had to walk it out of my body so we went over to Chinatown.

The shops were all getting ready for the Chinese New Year already!

Stumbled upon a Tintin shop as well! It was such a surprise, since I used to enjoy reading Tintin when I was younger.

A life size Captain Haddock, the only shot I was supposed to take in the shop.

And a secret shot of Tintin that I wasn't supposed to take.
