My friend talked to me about my blog today. She thinks I need to inject more life into my posts. I've taken her comments into consideration.

My new life will begin now.

Today was a treacherously scorching day, my skin was almost baked like love letters in the outrageous heat. To make matters worst, I had to wait a god forsaken 40 minutes which could have been wasted away in a more relaxing or entertaining manner for my bus. When the bus arrived it was packed to the brim like an exploding can of sardine and I was expectedly very frustrated but still, live goes on for a poor struggling student who has an appetite bigger than my papyrus thin wallet can afford.

I had dinner at Hoshino Coffee which is located at Plaza Singapura's extremely spacious and inviting Atrium Space and it was such a delightful experience that I was already making a commitment to visit the place again even before I started eating.

Step through these avant garde picture frames for a picturesque experience at Hoshino.

Introducing my international man of mystery dinner date.

Joking that's just me.

The lamp shades were so obnoxiously big they block the face of whoever you are sitting opposite of. They clearly want you to focus on your food and not on whoever you are having your meal with.

I do not really have anything to say about the sandwich. It's absolutely normal and fine.

The deserts made me salivate tears of divine joy though. The ice cream was so creamily soft like a melted cloud saturated with joy and silky sweetness. The cake was rich with flavour and it bulleted straight through my mouth filling my heart with warmth and delight. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, taking a bite out of it felt like I was tasting the soft cheeks of a new born baby.

They even offer excellent service, where the waitresses will come to you eager to serve with smiles that sets hearts ablaze faster than the sun at the click of a button.

After dinner, I went for a talk at the Substation, an old but well preserved theatre filled with old school nostalgia, to learn more about Intellectual Property Law.

Me looking like a luxurious and expensive movie star with an exquisitely styled pancake for my hair.

So long!

Today I went to Kinokuniya to help my friend get some stationeries!

These are frivolously cute pens where you can refill the ink. The ink itself even comes with heart shape gems and stars.

Found these extra cute cause they remind me of SKE48's Choco no Dorei uniforms!

I had tea at Marmalade Toast! It was kind of hard to find but it's nice and quiet and really cheap! It'll be a great place to study I think.

My cheesecake!

My face.

And one more cause I'm extra vain today.
I've been playing this new game called Line Play! It's pretty fun but I'm still not quire sure how to do some stuff. It's really really cute though!

Here's my character and a bed he won!

He is a Chocolate Prince in Wonderland!

And his Kitchen!

You can visit the houses of your friends as well! I'm taking a bath at Jenny's right now.

My nephew recently found out how to access YouTube from the iPhone and iPad and he's been obsessed with it lately.

He took my phone and went on YouTube to loko at trucks, all by himself! I found out and took my phone back and he started pleading with me for the phone. I refused and he was crying so badly.

Isn't he cute? Haha. I was so funny I couldn't stop laughing.

And I saw a really really nice car at school today! What a nice minty green. :)

Posting my song choice of the week two days early because I really like this!

It's been a while since I liked SHINee as I really did not like their dark concepts (worst is how they've been recycling it in Japan) so I am really happy about this comeback!

The most interesting thing about this concept is the microphone stand dance! I loved how they worked around it and used it to make very interesting clean lines and formations. I hope they perform with microphone stands of different designs as well!

The image for this concept is great as well. I love how the suites are so wildly patterned, it's both masculine and youthful at the same time.

The song is really great as well. It's uplifting and energetic. I like the guitar rifts, making the song really exciting. It's also a vast improvement from the mess that was Sherlock. I found it really funny that Minho's whispering "SHINee's back" again though. Kind of unnecessary but he is always doing the unnecessary things.

Woke up early in the morning to have dim sum at Tung Lok!

Finally got to taste the highly anticipated roast pork belly!

It's so good!

It's so juicy and tender and the skin is so crispy. nomnomnom.

Had the usual stuff like carrot cake, har gao, siew mai.

Here's some beancurd prawn thing.

Wanton.

My favorite salted egg custard bun!!!

Creamy!

We then had some seafood baked rice with cheese. Kind of funny how they have it at a Chinese restaurant but it was kind of nice.

My favorite test tube drink!

It's made out of lots of fruits. It's kinda sour and sweet, I like it alot.

And because it is so early I look kinda pissed lol.

This week I've been listening to Janelle Monáe's first unofficial studio album which she self distributed.

I know she received some popularity lately with fun. but her solo work is a million times more interesting then her feature in that song.

I've always admired her work since I first discovered her in 2008. I loved how she creates this other world and develops it so fully with her own sound and image. I respect her creativity a lot and it is inspiring how she used her imagination and made so much out of it. Compared to other artistes, her works are so tight conceptually it really designs an experience for her audience.

I chose this song to feature as it showed the creation of her fantasy world, Metropolis, that she still continues to build on today. She sings as her alter-ego, Cindi Mayweather, an android who has fallen in love with a human Anthony Greendown. What is interesting is that she uses 'androids' as a metaphor for the 'others' in society, and as such comments on societal problems like alienation and discrimination.

Musically, I really like how it uses the accordion (I think?) and still makes it futuristic through it's rhythmic suspensions, making it feel like I'm floating through space. The song is really soothing and dream like where the futuristic elements blend in perfectly with the more traditional jazz elements. The spoken part in the songs further dramatizes the song, and her delivery really makes it feel like you are watching a movie. Her album is without a doubt a musical experience that is so unique, almost cinematic, and hard to define that she describes the genre as 'Classical Wondafunk'. The album is very fascinating so go check it out! It is available for free download.

Met my friend, Beatrice, who went to Australia to study today. Met Coco too.

How nice to be able to talk to her about things like religion, gender and identity. Our opinions may differ but it was nice how we can have a long thoughtful conversation on such stuff.

They made me spend 4 hours at the lingerie section of two different departmental stores though. I was so embarrassed.

Anyway so my friend Aida started this personal project on the private houses, I thought I'll share some of her nice photos!

These were all taken in Tampines!

Today's the last day of the Chinese New Year Holidays!

Woke up really early to go to my father's company party.

They got the lion dance over and one of the lion was freaking crazy.

He put a boy's head in his mouth.

Danced his way up the stairs.

He was literally out of control!

And acting cute.

The pair of them made some magical lucky numbers or something. Yes there was confetti.

And we had yusheng again.

And I just found out how colourful my father's side of the family is.

At my great grand aunt's house there was this white lady whom I didn't want to talk to at first cause I just didn't really like talking to strangers. I thought she was someone's business partner. After an hour of talking with everyone it turns out she's my cousin. WHAT.

Apparently one of my aunts settled down in the US due to her work for the Singapore Embassy and later on the World Bank. Technically my cousin is mixed but she did not look any bit Asian at all. I also had a great grand uncle who was a sailor who went all the way to Spain and settled down there whom I've never met before. Well it's always interesting to find out more about family.

Tomorrow's back to school but thankfully it is a short day!

Monday, 11 February 2013

Today's the second day of Chinese New Year. I usually don't have much to do on the second day so today was spent mostly sleeping since the weather is so nice and comfortable.

My family wanted to have dinner at Katong I12's Sushi Tei but it was closed.

We went to Din Tai Fung instead. Everyone should know what the food there tastes like, but I really like the Yuan Yang Dumplings. It had Red Bean and Yam filling and it was really sweet. We got it for free since we ordered more than $80 woth of food and my dad had a Citibank card. The waitress also stabbed me with her pen. T.T

We went to my Aunt's house to visit and afterwards, my mum let me go out with my friends!

We went shopping.

I like this snapback.

And this letter man jacket! It has my initial on it!

We also watched a movie.

I took the train home.

Guess what I found?

No shit, Sherlock.

I got so excited I ran behind him to take photos like a paparazzi.

More visiting tomorrow and it's the last day of this long weekend :(
